Troubleshooting Auto-Unlock

Coin's Auto-Unlock feature can help to prevent fraud by keeping your cards locked and safe when your Coin is not around your phone. If Auto-Unlock is not working as expected, here are a few quick things to check:

  1. Ensure that Bluetooth is turned ON.
  2. Verify that Auto-Unlock is enabled by visiting your Sync Screen. The Auto-Unlock radio button should be toggled to ON.
  3. Verify that Auto-Unlock settings have been transferred to your Coin by syncing your settings over to Coin. 
  4. Verify that the Coin app is running in the background of your phone. For the best experience, we do not recommend force-quitting the Coin app.

Now that your settings are enabled on Coin, you can simulate two Auto-Unlock scenarios to ensure Auto-Unlock is working.

Scenario #1 - Coin will Auto-Unlock when near your phone

With your phone’s Bluetooth turned ON, press the button on your Coin once to wake it up. You should see LOCK flash on your Coin’s display for a brief moment and then see the display switch from LOCK to your first card (ex. VISA).

Scenario #2 - Coin will Lock when it can not find your phone

To test Auto-Lock, turn your phone’s Bluetooth OFF. Then, press the button on your Coin once to wake it up. You should see LOCK flash on your Coin’s display and remain there. Your Coin is locked to prevent fraud. It can now only be unlocked by entering your Tap Code or, by turning your phone’s Bluetooth back on and pressing Coin’s button again.
