Your plastic cards can't defend themselves, but Coin offers a few features that can protect your card data. As a part of the Auto-Unlock security feature, your Tap Code prevents someone else from using your Coin in the event that it is lost or stolen.
The Tap Code is a series of six long or short button presses, similar to morse code. We chose this method of unlocking the Coin mobile app and Coin device because Coin has a single button.
You establish the Tap Code in the Coin mobile app and are required to enter it any time you leave and re-enter the app after 15 mins of inactivity*. If you have enabled security features, you will also be need to unlock Coin with your Tap Code when using the device standalone.
After you've installed and signed in to the Coin mobile app, you'll be guided through a simple process to establish your Tap Code:
- Tap Set Up Tap Code
- Practice by following the specified sequence of long and short presses
- After you've correctly input the sequence in the practice screen, establish your Tap Code
- And confirm it
Now that your Tap Code is established, please proceed to Step Three: Verify Your Identity.
NOTE: When authenticating with your Tap Code, you will have three attempts to enter it in correctly. If you fail those three attempts, you will be prompted to enter your account password. If you fail to enter your account password within three attempts, you will be locked out of the mobile app and a reset password email will be automatically sent to your email address.
